So a bunch of us went to see the Rod Blumenau show last night. They were excellent as usual. Actually, Rod seem to be in better-than-ever form! Retirement must be giving him lots of practice time.

If you didn't get a chance to make the show last night, try again tonight!

Before the show (actually during the first set), Angela and I ate dinner at Horizons (the restaurant at the Lodge at Woodcliff). While it was decent food, it was waaaay overpriced. c'est la vie!

On Friday July 22 and Saturday July 23, the Rod Blumenau Quartet(featuring Brad on drums and Jim Doser on sax) will perform at the Lodge at Woodcliff ("Horizon Hill", Routes 96 and 490, aka Woodcliff Drive in Fairport) from 7:30 - 12:30 (solo piano 7:30, Trio 8:30, Quartet 9:30).

For those of you who have never heard Rod's group, they are spectacular fun! For my money, they are the best small-group jazz in Rochester! Go see 'em!

Just heard that David "Fathead" Newman is in town tonight!  He is playing two shows at the Montage Grill (7:00pm/9:00pm).  Its $23 at the door, and $20 in advance. 

If you've never heard him before, Fathead is an amazing sax and flute musician, truly one of the greats of jazz!  Among other, Fathead played with the great Ray Charles.
